What is a liquid?

A liquid is the liquid that is vaporized in the e-cigarette.

Basically, it consists of a base liquid, flavors and nicotine, if any.

Liquids are offered in bottles of different sizes or they are already pre-filled in ready pods.

Ingredients

An e-cigarette differs from a cigarette mainly in that there is no combustion process in it. A heating wand is used to heat the liquid (liquid) so that vapor is created from it. Products from tested sources always guarantee high quality and thus do not pose any risk when the vapor is drawn into the lungs.

Due to changes in the legislation of liquids worldwide, the testing conditions for liquids are becoming stricter and stricter and so it is not uncommon that a liquid is nowadays tested in 3 independent laboratories before it is even released on the market.

PG (Propylene Glycol)

Propylene glycol (1,2-propanediol) is an approved food additive (E 1520). It is also used in baked goods, sweets, toothpaste, ointments, etc. The well-known disco fog is also made of it. PG is one of the essential elements of a liquid and serves mainly as a flavor carrier. At the same time, it is responsible for causing the throat hit that just former smokers are looking for.

PG has a slightly sweet taste by nature and is rather thin.

VG (vegetable glycerin)

Vegetable glycerin (VG) is also an approved food substance (E 422). It is used to condense the vapor in an e-cigarette.

VG is slightly more viscous than PG and also has a slightly sweet note, but is odorless and colorless.

Flavors

There are no limits when it comes to flavors. In liquids for an e-cigarette, mostly food-approved flavors of high quality are used. Here, however, it is important to always check the sources of supply and only purchase liquids from a verified outlet.

The proportion of flavors in a liquid makes up about 15% on average.

Nicotine

Especially smokers who want to switch can not and do not want to do without nicotine. Thus, there are numerous liquids to which nicotine is added in various strengths.

Nicotine by itself is about as dangerous as caffeine. Contrary to numerous rumors, it is not carcinogenic, nor does it affect the cardiovascular system or cause addiction. It is the burning process of a cigarette that is responsible for addiction, not nicotine (which, by the way, is also used over-the-counter for gum or patches).

Here we quote Professor Michael Russell who clarified: "People smoke for the nicotine, but they die from the tar" Loosely translated this means: People smoke for the nicotine, but they die from the tar. Once again, it must be clearly stated that the combustion process in smoking is the problem, not the nicotine contained in a cigarette or e-cigarette.

The liquid in the e-cigarette acts about 3-4 times slower than that of the cigarette. No additives are added to it to shorten this period. However, you can use a liquid with a higher nicotine content to bridge this. In this case, however, the so-called Throat hit (scratching in the throat) is somewhat more severe.

If you get too much nicotine, you will experience headaches and dizziness. A reduction of nicotine solves this problem very quickly, since the nicotine is broken down in the body within an hour. Too little nicotine, on the other hand, makes you feel nervous and you are tempted to resort to the cigarette. Switching to something stronger in nicotine helps here. Especially at the beginning of vaporizing, it is important to find out how high your current nicotine needs are.

Studies show that with a 2nd generation e-cigarette, the same nicotine concentration is reached in the blood within around 30 minutes as after 5 minutes with a cigarette. In the meantime, however, new devices are already on the market that primarily also use nicotine salts and thus shorten this time even further.

What is a nicotine salt?

The nicotine used in the liquids for e-cigarettes is obtained from the tobacco plant and is therefore natural. The nicotine salt is also obtained from it, but here benzoic acid is added during the extraction process, which forms colorless crystals that intensively bind the nicotine to themselves. When the liquid is vaporized, these transporter crystals dissolve. As a side effect, the pH value of the newly formed liquid decreases. And this ensures that the unpleasant scratching sensation during consumption is eliminated, while still supplying a sufficient amount of nicotine for smokers.

What are the benefits of nicotine salt?

The nicotine supply with a cigarette differs significantly from that with an e-cigarette. When nicotine is vaporized, it takes much more time to cross the blood-brain barrier and thus trigger the pharmacological feeling of satisfaction.

This slowdown often leads to failure to quit smoking and smokers switching back to cigarettes, which promise them faster results.

The composition of nicotine salts eliminates this problem altogether, because nicotine is delivered quickly enough to prevent a craving for a smoke.

At the same time, nicotine salts can be vaporized in much higher concentrations without altering the taste of the liquid or the aroma.

Nicotine salt is often vaporized in somewhat lower temperature ranges and is often used in practical pod systems. Here, less liquid leads to the fact that the desired nicotine kick is already achieved with only a few puffs.

What speaks against nicotine salt?

The discussions on the subject of nicotine salt run heatedly and without absolute arguments. For example, it is often accused that nicotine salt, thanks to its rapid effect, is consumed in too high a dose and is correspondingly addictive. Especially when used in powerful sub-ohm devices, this can happen and symptoms such as nausea, headache and dizziness indicate that the dosage is too strong.
