The vapor market (e-cigarettes) is developing in a wave-like and repetitive manner.

When e-cigarettes appeared a few years ago, there were mechanical devices that could be used by professionals. And very quickly, very simple models appeared on the market that looked like a normal cigarette, but were electronic. You had to charge them briefly, and then you could start vaporizing with a pre-filled liquid. Once you had vaporized everything, you simply threw the e-cigarette away.

Over time, however, they got away from this because the customers then wanted more power and the possibility to use their own liquids.

Then came the tubes (tubes) and boxes.
Manufacturers gradually switched to devices with more power, which you could even adjust individually. These battery carriers had separate tanks that you had to fill with liquid. Whether it was the first tubular e-cigarettes or then boxes (square devices), you couldn't get more individual. Those who liked it simple chose a product that could be regulated quite easily. Advanced vaporists then also wound and tuned their devices themselves to generate the vapor experience that suited them. What they all had in common was that they had to fill up liquid themselves. However, transporting the liquids was not everyone's cup of tea and so the market was again looking for a further development.

Pod system conquers the market

The practical solution for transporting the liquids was quickly found and pod systems entered the market. These handy cartridges were filled with liquid and could be easily inserted into a suitable e-cigarette device that had been charged beforehand. In such systems, the power is already predetermined and cannot be changed individually. Moreover, the manufacturer's plan is that customers can only use their own pods to match the device. One of the most famous models, which has caught on incredibly quickly around the world, is the Juul. However, there are other variants as well.

System change in the U.S. - back to "go"

American legislation has been incredibly on the move in recent years and has aimed to make vaping unattractive, especially for young people. In 2020, the actually very popular pod systems therefore disappeared from the American market or were only allowed in the flavors tobacco and menthol. The market was turned upside down, but since the need for a simple e-cigarette still existed, new solutions were found. Suddenly, disposables were sold again, because they are not subject to the same legislation (until now).

These practical devices are also making a comeback on the European market. Unlike the former models, the modern e-cigarettes do not even need to be charged before use, but have enough power stored. It really doesn't get any simpler than this. Little by little, more and more products and flavors are finding their way onto the market.

The big crux: environmental compatibility

If you observe the development of the e-cigarette, you can see that it is always being optimized and adapted to customer needs. Only one very important aspect is being taken care of, sometimes more and sometimes less: the environment.

Disposable devices are not really environmentally friendly. They are steamed and then simply thrown away. Their individual components consist of metal, plastic and a rechargeable battery. It's crystal clear that such a device doesn't simply belong in the household trash.

When the change away from these devices to the tubes and boxes took place, the e-cigarettes were used again x-fold and only the liquid from a vial supplemented - much more environmentally friendly, but just also more complicated.

In the next step, the pod systems conquered the market and with that, at least the whole devices were no longer thrown away, but only the pods.

And now we're back to throwing away the entire device. After all, we all learn from our behavior and the environment is close to our hearts: that's why happy-smoke offers proper disposal for free. So, we're kind of back to square one. It can be assumed that individuality will soon win again and the cycle will start again. The e-cigarette is fighting incredibly many prejudices on the market, but we are confident that it will survive and numerous smokers will get away from the normal cigarette thanks to it.
